A new
pipeline was about to be handed over by the contractor. Pressure
tests had been satisfactory but attempts to check the coating
using traditional ‘ground contact’ methods had been unsuccessful
because the backlfill had not consolidated sufficiently to give a
signal path to the surface. A quick C-Scan survey revealed 2
unwrapped joints. These were excavated and properly wrapped before
handover.
